OK, so it is not really a question that I get asked the most; that question is what is the best affordable ergonomic chair?
Well seeing as I have already answered that one, I thought I would answer the question of the best massage seat that money can buy.
This is in part because I want to help everyone who emails me, and partly because I am in place called Udon Thani, Thailand with my wife and got to test an amazing Sanyo massage chair.
This particular reflexology seat was really fantastic; seriously amazing, but I will not be using it for this review because after s bit of digging around; I found out that this particular stool is an Asia specific (regional) massage chair and most of my loyal readers come from the good Ol’ USA.
In order to help you decide on the best reflexology recliner for your aching bones; I will review 3 of the top rated massage chairs available.
I know that most of my readers are either interested in the best that money can buy, or just want something that does its job without breaking the bank and as a result, I will show you the best affordable relaxing stool, the best average priced relaxation chair and then the best overall reflexology chair that money can buy.
I must pre warn you that because Ergonomic Health takes reviewing very seriously and I don’t want to offer you just any old, cheap and nasty products.
I have done a lot of research to find you the best massage chairs in a range of prices, but from this research I have found that you just cannot buy a decent reflexology chair for cheap.
You can buy the cheap sub-priced, electric massage things that you just throw onto any random chair, but in my experience, these things can do more harm than good.
This means that the “affordable” recliner I review is still priced quite highly. However this means that you are getting a great massage recliner that will last, ease your muscles, correct your posture and get you feeling relaxed for a long time!
With that out of the way, let’s get to it…
OK, so this one is actually the “budget” massager stool, but like said previously; there is not such thing as a cheap electric massage recliner, unless you really don’t care about the quality.
Lots of configuration options
Doesn't go all the way down to your hips and tail bone
Sits very close to the floor, so may be difficult for older people to get out of
Not so comfortable if used as a normal chair
In order to answer this, you first need to understand how they work:
Massage therapy Techniques
Currently, the most effective reflexology techniques that electric reflexology stools are designed to to involve the eponymous Shiatsu and Swedish styles.
Shiatsu massage tends make use of:
The defining quality of Shiatsu is its focus on releasing tension around specific locations of the body.
Swedish reflexology mainly involve long gliding strokes and kneading.
This type of message aims at fostering proper and strong blood circulation.
What is the bottom line?
Well, a mechanical substitute can never reproduce the exact feeling of human touch.
However, the more these companies invest in research, the more designers have been able to closely approximate the necessary factors in an electric reflexology recliner.
In my opinion, the main benefits of a reflexology chair lie in the fact that you can use it whenever you want to without having to worry about cost or traveling to and from a masseuse parlor.
1 Full Year Warranty

Total of 20 airbags to massage your arms & legs
Modern contemporary style
Warranty doesn't include labor
Quite large so make sure to measure first!
Not so comfortable if used as a normal chair
The shiatsu massage chair was first introduced on the consumer market during the late 1980’s.
Intended to emulate the motions and techniques of a real masseuse, the objective of top rated electric massager stool was to relieve stress & tension, as well as alleviating back ache, (especially in the lumbar region).
Although message seats were initially slow-moving and didn’t catch on at the speed of some other consumer goods; after a decade or possibly even longer, interest in the technology increased massively spurring competitors to strive to create the best models and research into more advanced technology.
Built by Japanese engineers and shiatsu massage experts
8 pre-programmed, healthcare settings & morning and night feature
Very high quality, long lasting build
Modern contemporary style
Might not recline enough for some people
Quite large so make sure to measure first!
The priciest reflexology chair I could find in this consumer reports research, was the Apex AP-PRO Regent 4D.
At just over $7,500, this was the costliest chair that I found that non celebrity people actually bought.
According to the marketing material:
The AP-Pro Regent massage chair is APEX's flagship massage chair model and is dressed with latest innovations in massage chair technology. The chair is engineered by the top Japanese designers in the industry. The chair comes equipped with “4D” deep pressure massage rollers that protrude 3.5″ into your back, a body scan, an innovative heating element, 31 expansive airbags, 11 auto programs, memory compatibility, following arm massagers and more!
So there you have my best electric reflexology recliner reviews for 2016.
I have included both the Pros and Cons for each seat in order that you can get a fuller understanding of what they are really about.
I can say without a doubt that the IInada Sogno Dreamwave Reflexology chair is the best massager chair out there right now and will be for some time.
However, its cost is somewhat prohibitive for most people (including myself).
If money is not so much of an issue and you want only the best; then the Inada Sogno Dreamwave Electric Massage Chair & Recliner is the one to go for.
If you are on a bit more of a budget, then the Human Touch massager recliner is going to be a great option to relieve your weary bones.
As always, I encourage you to ask me questions and comment below so you can let everyone else know how you get on or if you wish to correct some information on this page.

If you are looking for the best memory foam mattress topper reviews, you are in the right place.
I will run through what I think is the best rated memory foam mattress topper by reviewing 3 of the best ones available right now.
To do this, I will briefly describe the different options available and how a memory foam mattress topper can be so good for your sleep, especially if you have bad back pain.
Some key points I will cover throughout this rundown will include:
So without further ado, let’s start with the best best rated memory foam mattress topper.
Breathable, open cell ViscO2 ventilated memory foam mattress topper
Formula uses plant-based ingredients
Provides comfort and pressure relief to reduce tossing and turning
Spot clean only, do not machine wash or dry

20 Year Limited Warranty Direct From Cloud9 Bedding
Exclusive formula makes you feel like you are floating on CLOUD9, sailing forth into a sea of dreams
Made in the USA, does not contain any toxic ingredients, new foam odors will dissipate if aired out.
The 2 issues that people frequently ask me about are:
Here’s the deal:
If you already suffer with a bad back; you should be careful when investing in a top rated mattress topper to be certain it has very good support on their reviews.
When searching for a good one, should keep an eye out for its foam density.
High quality and affordable toppers will have a density of at least 4 pounds (4 lbs) and in some cases up to 5 pounds (5 lbs). To find more ergonomic products go here: www.ergonomichealthhq.com
A foam density of at least 4 pounds should be a minimum starting point for you if you are specifically looking for one to help your back, and 5 or more being even better.
As for the next question, is foam bad for you if your back is fine?
Well the short answer is yes!
You will not have problems if you get the right one, but you must be aware that a memory foam mattress topper is only as good as the original mattress it lays on based on the reviews.
In order to ensure the mattress topper reviews will work as it is intended to do, you should already have a good mattress which the topper be used with.
If your mattress is getting older and looks like it has seen better days; a topper may not help you get a better nights sleep. If it is at that stage, you should seriously consider replacing the entire mattress.
For example, if your mattress is already worn out and sagging in the center, the mattress topper will also sag.
It’s a waste of money to invest in just a memory foam mattress topper, because the topper will adapt to the underlying mattress!
I think I can safely assume that if you are looking at an article related to top rated, popular and affordable memory foam toppers reviews ; you probably want memory foam… just at an affordable price.
Stand alone memory foam mattresses are expensive and can sometimes run into the big numbers! This is a lot of money when you could just get yourself a topper.
As I mentioned earlier:
A quality topper is good to help alleviate back pain when sleeping, but it is also suitable for the following:
If you decide to buy cheap or affordable, budget-friendly product (under $40 realistically), you’ll be lucky to get a couple years from it.
Poor quality memory foam will begin to lose its support. Basically, you will start to see over time, that the cheap foam stops expanding out and the indentations of your body remain in place. This is bad thing that happens with poor quality mattress toppers and any bad quality memory foam mattress in general.
However, the best and most popular memory foam mattress topper can last up to at least 10 years if you take care of it.
An affordable topper that has up to 5 pounds with a thicker density will usually last longer than ones that are less dense, so keep that in mind.
If you are looking to get the best memory foam mattress topper for the best budget-friendly price, you can’t go wrong with the ones I have reviewed here.
However, please be aware that you must check for the exact type that you need or want.
As usual, please leave any comments below and I will get back to you. If you have any questions in regards to the reviews that you would like me answer personally, then please feel free to use the contact page at the footer.
Ergonomic living room furniture can be beautiful you know!
When you think of ergonomic furniture, perhaps pictures of ugly office chairs come to mind? They did for me when I started this site.
But after a while and some research, I found that there is stylish ergo living room furniture available, that not only looks great in your home; but also provides plenty of comfort.
In fact, there are many different kinds of ergonomic living room furniture that can be said to help to relieve all kinds of health issues or even just make you less tired. For example living room lounge chairs, sofas and couches with lumbar support can help to improve your posture which in turn has a whole raft of spillover health benefits.
Let’s look at the numerous benefits associated with using ergonomic furniture in your home, as well as 5 of the top products you should definitely consider using in your own home.
Designed to meet the demands of the increasing number of people suffering from back pain and posture problems, ergo furniture like couches, reclining sofas and lounge seats were almost only seen in office settings when it was first introduced.
However, as people began to realize how beneficial and comfortable this type of furniture was, designers started applying the same principles to livingroom furniture.
If you have never considered using ergonomic furniture in your home, its numerous benefits may make you think differently.
If you constantly struggle with back pain, there is a good chance that you are, unknowingly, slouching down in your high chair. This stretches your discs and spinal ligaments.
Sitting in a comfortable sofa or chair maximizes back support, while also ensuring you maintain good back posture. This decreases aggravation to your spine and reduces back pain.
By improving your posture, ergonomic furniture also improves your health. When your posture is aligned high and correctly, your body and back works more efficiently.
For example; good high posture facilitates breathing properly, which enhances your thinking ability. The more air you are getting, the more oxygen goes to your brain and other vital organs supplying much needed, fresh nutrients to your entire body.
Poor posture can also neck, joint, and back pain, as well as poor circulation because it can put too much strain on a part of the body.
When you opt for ergonomically designed living room furniture, your improved posture prevents allows strain to be evenly distributed throughout your body. This allows the body to enter a state of synergy
When you are constantly suffering from back and neck pain, it can be almost impossible to get a good night’s sleep. Opting for orthopedic and ergonomic furniture will help relieve the discomfort so you are finally able to fall asleep quickly and stay comfortably asleep.
Not that you know all ergonomically designed living room furniture has to offer, it is time to look at 5 of the top selling livingroom options currently on the market, including some beautiful leather living room furniture sets:
Not only does this leather recliner look and feel amazing, but it also includes a number of features that you are sure to enjoy, such as:

Updated 2017 Edition
It seems that many folks think that an ergonomic seat has to cost the earth and so many end up not buying anything at all and carry on living in pain.
However, what if I told you that actually, ergonomic chairs do not have to be crazy expensive and you can find some really great ones out there!
In order to fully review them and find out which one I think is the best, I wrote this monster post so you can make a decision yourself.
I have personally reviewed what I think to be the best office stools of 2017 and in no particular order, with the winner at the end of the post.
You can also check out my list of some very lovely looking ergonomic living room furniture pieces.
So sit back and get ready for a super detailed post of the 5 best office stool reviews, including a wildcard at the end just for fun!
Below I will list some of the best ergonomic chairs according to my own criteria:
They are in no particular order, except that the winner is at the bottom and the wildcard just after!, but otherwise you can just jump around.
This is really very important because there is a sweet spot between having too few adjustment points which will render an ergo stool to merely a seat; but too many and you risk having weak points and reducing its durability. This idea is not that well known to most ordinary people (we have here an inside information!) but it is very important to have in your arsenal when you’re going off to buy an ergonomic office desk chair for your workplace. This will ensure that you get the most quality out of the furniture that you buy.
Many affordable and cheap work stools are actually pretty good, they might not be the best but if you’re looking for quality along with the money that you put out, it’s definitely worth a try. So, if you want to view more of the most affordable products with the best quality that you can find on the internet.
There is also the fact that no one really wants to mess around for too long, and let’s be honest, I suspect many of you just want to get a cheap desk stool, set to comfortable and then sit in it. Read this to find out more about Ergonomic Health’s sit-stand stool reviews.
Any usable product (unless industrial), that comes with an instruction manual longer than a phone book is too ridiculous.
First of all though, you should check out if you have any of these forward head posture symptoms as this might be a cause of your pain.
So with out further ado, let’s jump right into it!
The Alera Elusion Series of ergonomic armchairs is actually a very well renown series and this one is no different.
With a nice array of features to get you going on your way to ergonomic bliss, you can be assured that you will have plenty of adjustable options to make your new ergonomic stool fit around you.
The one real stand out feature I think, is its use of a “waterfall edge”, which is a nice added touch.
It is easy to only think about ones neck and back when we consider comfortable desk seats.
But if we remember to ask ourselves, “what is an ergonomic injury?”, then we will get lots of answers including all the different parts of the body.
The Alera Elusion Series Mesh Mid-Back chair’s “waterfall edge” is something found on other office chairs out there.
Not too dissimilar to the previous Flash Furniture BL-X-5M-BK-GG Mid-Back Mesh Chair, including a mesh back for increased airflow and comfort.
I think it looks nice. Again it doesn’t set the design world on fire; but it does exactly what it sets out to do: be a usable computer office seat.
It will go equally nicely in a modern office desk or a home office behind a computer or a drawing board, whatever your profession may be.
Like some of the other ergo office desk seats reviewed here, the Alera Elusion Series stool uses premium materials to keep it solid and help it to maintain its integrity; which is vitally important for ergonomic chairs.
It also has some strong padding in the seat to ensure that you will remain comfortable and not damage your back in many years.
This is actually true of all the seats in this mammoth review, but it is still worth mentioning because we are looking at different types of office seat here!
If you buy an expensive set of dining room stools, you sometimes find the padding getting softer over time and end up replacing them all (in my experience anyway).
With these stools, you will not have to replace the padding very often, if at all. And even if the padding goes after 5 years, you can always sell the actual seat on to someone else and get yourself a nice new one.
Very comfortable, decent amount of adjust ability and some nice extra added features thrown in to boot!
You will be hard pressed to find an ergonomic office stool this quality.
Wow, what a stool!
The Flash Furniture BL-X-5M-BK-GG seems to be quite the adjustable ergo seat.
With options to adjust many different aspects including:
This is the stool for the tinkerer and obsessive alike, (both of those are me which is why I would put serious consideration into buying this one if I hadn’t SAYL Chair by Herman Miller – Official Retailer – Basic – Black.
I don’t think that there is anything particularly stand out with the design here.
It looks good, not great. More like an above average office recliner, rather than a complex and good looking comfortable seat that will make your coworkers swoon, (I do not think many folks would swoon over an ergonomic seat, but there will be some!).
Bottom line, I would be more than happy to use this chair in my home office.
With a heavy duty nylon base and dual wheel casters, you can be sure that it can withstand metal buttons on jeans and trousers.
To top it off, the base cushion also contains CA117 Fire Retardant Foam.
Now I will level with you, I don’t know the ins and outs of fire retardant materials, but I would think that this can only be a good thing.
Good chair, hard wearing.
OK, this is probably one of the most functional and durable ergonomic stools I have ever reviewed!
I will just give you a run through of some of its features, as described in its marketing material as received from their website:
(NOTE: All information directly from Flash Furniture)
I am starting to see a pattern with Flash Furniture ergonomic office seats. One is that they are always very decent quality at incredible prices and secondly, they use very high quality materials and CA117 Fire Retardant Foam in most of their products.
Like I said in the previous Flash Furniture stool review, I am not entirely sure what the CA117 part means, but to quote the internet it is the official US Government authorized, non toxic fire retardant material.
I don’t think you can get a better seal of safety than from good old Uncle Sam.
I like the look of this chair.
I think that it is perfectly nice looking and can fit in easily to most settings.
For example, I work from home and so it doesn’t really matter what kind of recliner I have because no one will see it apart from me and some friends etc.
However, I still have a certain style of look to my place which I really want to keep and putting in something like the wildcard at the end, would really disrupt the whole thing I have going, (think old school library, but Ikea!)
The Flash Furniture High Back ergonomic armchair here would actually be a very nice addition to my room.
It will also fit very nicely into a normal office setting.
I mean the kind of office that most normal people like me and you work in (well not me any more but I have spent many years in a cubicle, believe me!), with partitions and tiny little kitchen rooms littered with novelty mugs :/
This chair is made from some pretty tough stuff including very strong nylon, so it should last the course.
It also has dual wheels castors which basically means that it is less likely the wheels will fall off when wheeling it over uneven surfaces.
The one thing that would worry me slightly is the special “LeatherSoft” upholstery. It has been specially made for comfort and softness, but this could make it a little bit more likely to rip some time in the future.
On the other hand, Flash Furniture is a quality American brand that has been in the business for some time.
From the reviews of it, it seems that this chair is really sturdy with particular attention being given to the armrests and adjustable handles.
I think that the Flash Furniture High Back Leather Chair is more that worth it.
The fact that it looks good, is strong and sturdy, has many different options for getting it to fit you just right and usually sits at a discount; should give you plenty of reason to get out there invest in today for delivery usually tomorrow!
VIVA Office, the professional office furniture supplier, now provides a great variety of excellent office chairs including ergonomic desk chair, task chair, executive & managerial stool, and more.
With the combination of global intelligence, high quality material, reliable performance, and world class ergonomic design, VIVA keeps bringing best sitting experience to customers all over the world!
All VIVA office chairs have passed the BIFMA testing standards for all applicable features.
With pneumatic seat height adjustment, lumbar support, back angle adjustment, tilt adjustable ability, position lock, adjustable armrest, waterfall edge, high weight bearing ability + More, the Viva Office Ergonomic Bonded Leather Executive and Managerial Office Chair has enough features to keep the most ardent ergonomics expert happy!
As I said right at the beginning, making sure to have to correct amount of adjustment points, without going overboard is the key to the best ergonomic seats.
The Viva High Back has pulled off this feat well within most peoples budget and added some very nice extras such as premium leather bonded with strong PVC.
Make no mistake, this chair is all about high quality and it looks like it means business.
It looks great and also that you could just sink into it. In fact I would use this kind of stool to watch a movie at home in ergonomic style!
I don’t know, but brushed metal and leather together just makes sense to me and looks fantastic.
Would this make a great addition to your work space? Well only you can answer that, but I do not think that there will be many places that this doesn’t fit in and make your colleges jealous!
In comparison to the Flash Furniture ergonomic chairs in this review which contain a special type of leather called “LeatherSoft”; the Viva has leather bonded with strong, hard wearing PVC.
Now it may not be as soft, but it will might be able to last for a long time and be could be able to knock away most things you could throw at it.
This chair is one that I would highly consider buying my self if I was looking for one, but ultimately I would go for the Alera Elusion.
In all seriousness though, this is a fantastic stool that is usually an amazing investment for your work space.
Do yourself a good deed, treat your self and invest in comfort and you not regret it!
Like most of the seats on this post, the Whalen Furniture Astoria ergo office recliner features a decent amount of adjust ability.
With the all important lumbar support and padded armrests, this is definitely back and arm friendly.
Armrests are often overlooked when considering a comfortable seat, but it is really another important aspect you think about.
Ergonomic office chairs don’t only help to improve posture and back pain, they also help with many other things like protecting against trapped nerves, tennis elbow and the dreaded carpel tunnel syndrome.
the Whalen Furniture Astoria alleviates some of these problems with its padded armrests.
Another great feature is that the lumbar support is actually removable. This is important for times where ergonomics can sometimes get in the way, for example if you are slightly bigger or smaller than average.
Now then, this one is a bit of a decisive one. I think you either love it or hate it.
Me personally, I think that it is quite nice looking and kind of reminds me of my dads old office seat.
It also all depends on the type of office you are in, the job you have and what kind of style you have.
Would I buy this? Short answer: no I would not. This is not because I do not like it, but rather that I just don’t think that it would suit me or is my kind of look.
However, it still looks great and is a fantastic fit for someone in more of a professional setting; a lawyer or doctor perhaps?
This is on the higher end of the chairs in this list. However it is very good quality and with a premium leather and wood finish, it is very good value of features.
With a strong, heavy construction and a smooth rolling wheelbase, the quality here is apparent and indicative of some rivals.
I think that this is seat that will last you a long time.
If you are sort of person who likes to buy once and replace not often, this is going to be a good choice for you.
From speaking with some of the owners of this seat, you will see that in terms of quality, Whalen Furniture is a very good, high quality American brand.
Thought I would just add this wildcard in because well, look at it! It’s an exercise ball on wheels for goodness sake.
Disclaimer: If anyone wants this or has already bought one, all comments are my own opinion and we can still be friends no matter how bonkers you may be!
The Evolution Chair truly is “the chair for optimum health” – according to their website.
For many years, healthcare professionals have utilized stability balls as tools to strengthen our core muscles, improve our balance, and facilitate good posture.
The Evolution Stool successfully combines these core-strengthening elements with the maneuverability and versatility of a rolling office chair.
The Evolution Seat reduces spinal compression to provide comfort for the user.
The rolling base offers increased stability, ease of movement and height adjust ability allowing you to obtain your ideal ergonomic position while seated.
It certainly seems that this ergonomic chair (ball chair, chair ball?) does a pretty good job at making one more comfortable at work.
With no back it also has the added benefit of working your abs and the muscles of your lower back, which is only a good thing.
It has a base with wheels so that you can move it about around the office and comes flat-packed that involves some construction.
But this is minimal and really on par with screwing in the wheels and blowing up the ball.
OK, I am going to be honest with you, I think this thing looks ridiculous!
I am really sorry if this is the stool you were looking for and this is really just my personal opinion.
The reason I say this is because just imagine having this at your office and bobbing up and down looking like a bit of an odd one!
To be entirely fair, all of the reviews of this stool point to it being a good one for lower back pain and it really forces you to sit upright.
However, there are many other out there that are just as good and are not so radical so as to make you stand out, (unless that is what you want?)
It also has to be noted here that although this is supposed to be a post about the best ergonomic chairs under a certain amount, I cannot endorse this chair in all good consciousness because although it meets the mark we set ourselves for this post, (exercise ball that you can get on its own, which has been placed onto the bottom of an average, non-ergonomic office chair!
If you really have your heart set on this stool, save yourself some money and just get the exercise ball!
It is cheaper and will do the exact same thing but be much friendlier on your pocket book.
Like I have already said above, it is basically an exercise ball which in themselves are actually made of very thick, strong rubber.
The bottom, wheeled section seems to be some kind of hard plastic which looks tough enough, but is cheap. Click here if you want to learn more about the ergonomic furniture.
Enough said I think!
The term ‘ergonomics’ takes its origin from Greek and can be described in two words, work and law.
Basically, it can be explained as the analysis or study of the job or work. It aims at designing or creating the job in such a way that it meets the needs of the worker.
It works towards creating a working space in which all its related factors, processes and systems have been exclusively designed to meet the needs and requirements of the employees.
It encourages the workers to work in a healthy and positive manner devoid of all physical hazards, disasters or loss to the worker in all possible aspects.
By enabling the job to be more adaptive and comfortable, many hazards such as tendinitis, trigger finger, spinal complaints and much more are avoided to a good extent.
Ergonomics focuses on all aspects of work like physical stress factors such as joint, muscle, bones and nerves discomfort and damage to other environmental factors. In short, it aims at creating a convenient, user friendly and stress free working condition for the worker by providing products and systems that enable improved interaction, co-operation and comfort.
Initiating and maintaining an ergo working space is one of the most important aspects of an organization or company. When the workers are happy and comfortable in their workplace, the productivity (learn more) of a company is increased enormously.
Some of the common benefits of an ergo office are as follows:
In order to take care of the worker’s comfort, focus should be allotted to the posture and other aspects as well.
When the posture is not correct, it can lead to many musculoskeletal disorders. Musculoskeletal disorder is basically tissue damage of the nerves, ligaments, joints, spinal discs and so on.
In order to prevent long term or chronic damage, corrective measures should be taken. Some of the ergonomic steps are discussed below:
In order to establish the right sitting posture, a good chair is a must. This prevents many spinal and neck based injuries and damage.
The height of the chair should be such that the foot rests comfortably on the floor or on a footrest. This enables free and enhanced blood circulation in the legs.
The armrest should be designed in a way that allows the entire arm to be rested comfortably and the material should be soft and soothing.
The backrest is of crucial importance as it supports the entire spinal system. The back rest should be wide and long enough to provide secure resting place for the entire back, especially the lower back. Incorrect back posture can cause spinal disc misplacement in the long run.
The seats of the chair should be adjustable to the height of the user and should be padded and rounded corners for extended comfort. Finally, the base of the chair should be secure, stable and come with a five legged option as it offers more security.
So, do you think you have an ergonomic chair at workplace/home? If not, get one without any further delay.
In the modern day office scenario, almost all jobs require the workers to spend long hours in front of the computer screen.
This is one of the main reasons why the computer parts should be ergonomically supported for better posture and comfort.
It is recommended to have adjustable and removable keyboards, brightness control, contrast modifications, decreased distance between the screen and the user, suitable lighting and anti-glare options or filters among other comfortable functions.
Working for long hours at a stretch can be detrimental to health and also affect productivity adequately. Allowing beaks at regular intervals is a good way to refresh and relax the workers.
Vision breaks are very important and should be taken often, lasting from a few seconds to a minute. At regular intervals look away from the computer screen, relax and adjust your eyes and vision and then resume work again.
Task breaks are also good to provide more focus and change. If you have been doing just one type of work for long, take a break and adhere to other tasks and then get back to the previous one. In order to relax your body and muscle, go in for stretch breaks
Lighting undoubtedly, plays a very significant role in transforming the ergonomics of a working space. Low lighted conditions can lead to extensive strain, discomfort to the eyes and lead to fluctuating eye power and related damage. It is best advised to make the use of full spectrum lights as opposed to the traditional lighting options as the former are designed to offer increased brightness, durability and less strain to the vision.
Lighting should never be too high or too less and in order to have the right brightness, it is a good idea to consult the workers and then make the required changes or improvisations.
Too much of noise and disturbance can cause undue stress and irritation to the workers involved and also make it difficult for them to concentrate on the work to be done.
A good solution to reducing noise pollution is to identity all the equipment that create excess noise and then segregate and place them in different rooms away from the workers.
Employ panels that offer acoustical absorption. Arrange for regular equipment maintenance and servicing facilities for smooth and durable working of the equipment. Finally, a good alternative is to use earplugs, which is a simple, cost-effective and convenient solution!
Creating and maintaining an ergonomic friendly home is not just any old task, but a daunting one if you do not get the concept right.
Once you know where the struggle lies, it is a breeze to initiate the transformation of your home. We spend adequate time at home and one of the most important things to do is to make your home the most comfortable place you can ever be in.
Often times, we neglect how things and products work and as a result they cause a lot of physical and mental stress respectively. In order to avoid all this, the art of ergo comes into play. For some quick pointers continue reading.
Always opt for a cushion mat on the floor in your kitchen.
Standing for long hours on rough floor can make your legs, joints and back ache endlessly. When there is some sort of a soft support, it cushions the pain and you feel comfortable working in your space.
Try not to install too many taps in your sinks as too much of twisting and turning can affect your wrist over time. When it comes to storing things, always load them on shelves that you can reach easily, preferably between eye and knee level.
This will prevent unnecessary bending and straining of the back.
Similarly, make sure your refrigerator and other electronics are placed in a way that does not require frequent bending. For the purpose of chopping, better grip and ergonomically designed knives are available, which allow better and equal use of muscles.
For instance, this type of knife allows the muscles of the forearm and upper arm to be used which simplifies the task rather than having to balance unevenly and exerting wrong pressure that can lead to muscle and joint pain in your hands and arms.
Try as much as possible to adorn your house with furniture that is simple and light weight as too much heavy lifting can strain the back extensively. Go here to learn more: http://www.ergonomichealthhq.com/living-room-furniture/
Go for couches and sofas that are not too low or bouncy as they might affect your hip and lower back drastically.
While watching television, avoid uplifting or stretching your neck and head.
While eating, make it a point to always have your plate at a higher level which prevents the need to bend down for every morsel.
It is highly recommended to use a cervical designed pillow as it serves as a great support to your neck. At times, when you stay awake late in the night with a good book, always ensure that your neck and back is well rested or it might lead to a sharp pain in your spine and also lead to spondylitis in extreme cases.
Opt for a mattress that is not made out of foam or too much spring. The best type is the cotton filled mattresses as they are gentle on your back and offer good, stable support and deters all problems of the spine. And, to find great memory foam mattress toppers for your bedroom, head over here.
Design sinks and cabinets in a way that do not require you to bend over. Always have them at a good height, preferably near your shoulder or eye level.
Use mats wherever necessary as it will prevent you from slips and falls. Even if you do fall, you will land gently on the mats and save yourself the fracture. Another good tip is to service your faucets regularly so that you do not have to exert unnecessary pressure or stress to get them functioning. Too much pressure and twists can affect the wrist tendons.
These are some simple tips that you can follow to make your home and working space more comfortable and user friendly. The best approach is to first identity the problem, the requirements and then try creating suitable solutions for them. This way, you can make sure to cover all aspects of work and home in a systematic and improved manner.
So there you have it, a pretty comprehensive way to improve the ergonomics of both your office and your lovely home!

Pride Specialty Collection LC-105 Lift Chair. The best way to ensure that you are getting the best top rated product for your money is to always do your research beforehand, which is why I would assume that you are here looking for an honest review about the Pride Mobility Lift Chair.
To keep it short and simple:
My recommendation and my review for the top rated product would be to go for it. You will be extremely happy with the results for either yourself or your loved one.
OK so now that is out of the way, let me explain to you why you should care about what I have to say and why I recommend the Pride Seat Lift Chair.
Here’s the deal:
I started this review website with only 1 objective: to create a single location that anyone interested in ergonomics and living a healthy life, could visit.
There are many different locations on the internet that have all kinds of great information; just nowhere that you can find everything in 1 place!
In fact my most popular top rated article reviews the best and most affordable ergonomic chairs (http://www.ergonomichealthhq.com/best-office-desk-chairs) for which I have managed to get many happy people into comfortable ergonomic chairs without spending a fortune!
You might be wondering:
So why are you reviewing a chair that is mainly aimed at senior citizens health care?
Well in short, I am not.
I am reviewing a lift chair, the pride seat lift chair in particular, for anyone who is need of an excellent lift chair that just works.
To find out more about myself & my reasons behind starting Brian’s Spine Health HQ, you can visit this page; just be sure to head back!
So let’s get to it:
The one thing that I have noticed when researching this top rated lift chair, is that a lot of folks love that fact that it just looks like an ordinary piece of living room furniture.
This is great for a number of reasons:
However, possibly the best thing about the Pride Lift Chair and something that you may think about when considering to buy one; is the warranty.
To put it simply, the warranty provided is excellent!
So that you do not have to search through hundreds of pages to find the exact warranty provided, I have attached it here for you:
(Click on the link to get a PDF that you can print off and keep).
It is a 3 year warranty that is transferable with the chair.
What that means is that you can sell the chair to someone else you know and it keeps what is left of the warranty for the new senior citizen owner.
But what about if something goes wrong with it, are you on your own?
Again, I have provided the document for you here in order to save you time.
Instead of searching everywhere, you can just click on the link below to pull up a PDF document detail some basic troubleshooting instructions:
This document offers some great tips and suggestions as to what might be making your Pride Mobility lift chair not work correctly, such as:
There are several more, but I just want to give you an idea about the kinds of issues that you can very easily fix. There is also their superb contact options that PrideMobility includes if you get into any trouble.
However that is really not going to be a problem because this is one of the best & most popular lift chairs you will find that is very durable for a great price.

OK, so whilst I was researching about top rated exercise equipment for your office cubicle, I came to a realization:
They suck. Big time!
I was genuinely interested about seeing if some of the top rated products really work, but unfortunately I cannot with all good consciousness promote anything.
So here is the thing:
There may be some top rated adjustable products out there that you can use whilst in the office or your cubicle, but to keep it nice & short and to the point… I have not found them yet.
If you came looking for an adjustable exercise equipment for the office cubicle that you hope will workout your abs while you work (paperwork), expand your lungs when writing reports or even fitness blast your quads as you are having a conference call with the big boss; then I am sorry to disappoint you.
There is a silver lining here.
Whilst I will not promote any kind of ergo exercise gym equipment for your office cubicle, (unless as a joke that is…), I will give you much better alternatives about how to stay healthy when working in a small office cubicle.
Let me give you some background information first:
I am a bit of an health & fitness freak. I love it and I feel sluggish and weak when I do not exercise or workout in the gym.
In fact my borderline obsession with working out was what led me tenuously to creating this website.
You see I started working out with weights that were far too heavy for what I should have been using and damaged my knee in the process of a particularly heavy rear squat. If you want to find out more about ergonomic office stools for your workplace, click here: http://www.ergonomichealthhq.com/best-sit-stand-work-stools
It is this injury and various other, (not all from exercise) that led me to find out about ergonomics and ergo related things.
However I digress, so lets have a look at some things you can do that will really get your juices flowing and get you feeling happy and productive.
Let me answer that question with another:
Is equipment really the be all and end all to get healthy and more importantly; what are your fitness goals?
If you work in an office or cubicle, and I am going to presume that you do seeing as you have read this far into a post about office fitness, then I think that you are after more energy in your day to day life, and also more flexibility; to stop being hunched over and pasty looking.
Let me break this post down then because it is going to be long:
Firstly, you have to know how exercises and workouts work.
Now I am not going to insult your intelligence by going into too much detail when you either know already, or a quick google search will suffice… but I will give a brief summary.
In order to get the full benefits of proper adjustable exercise equipment, one thing is really most important over others:
You have to get your heart beating fast to pump the blood around your body.
Fresh blood = fresh oxygen rich, nutrient filled goodness that helps to flush away the old and in some cases toxic, blood.
It also means that your lungs are working hard and your heart is straining, (not too much though and I really must stress that you should check with your doctor first before starting any workout routine, and even then start slow.)
Your heart is a muscle and should be treated as such.
Do you really think that spending half your day sitting down using a piece of ergo gym exercise equipment “designed for the office or a small cubicle”, then eating your sandwich at lunch only to continue in the afternoon, can really do this?
Let me answer that for you:
To be honest, I would say getting into some form of yoga in the mornings and/ or evenings is a better way to get in shape and completely free if you just check out YouTube. (That is a bit of a side step there but I have just started practicing yoga and truly, it’s great! Helps my knee too.)
OK so now that’s out of the way, how about the reasons behind why I think so strongly that an office ergo gym fitness exercise equipment is just not worth your hard earned money.
As I mentioned before:
You must get your heart beating to get some kind of benefit; and the machines, gadgets and gizmos aimed at the average office cubicle worker primarily exists to transfer your cash into the makers bank account.
Let me give you an example:
To lose weight or improve your blood circulation, you have to get your pulse rate up, and to get your heart rate up you must do work.
In an effective piece of home cardio equipment, there is a way of converting your work into heat somewhere inside device.
In a simple bike, it can be a brake pad scraping on a rim making the actual rim hot or the friction of the wheels on the ground etc.
In most modern exercise gym equipment there is a generator which turns your work into electricity that is then dumped into a resistive element which gets hot. Within these modern gadgets, the electrical resistance can be varied which changes the intensity of the workout.
You can see from the example of the desk bicycle machine above, that this device has no method of converting your work into heat.
To be completely honest with you; flapping your current arms would give you comparable gym workout to fitness machines like this one!
So let’s move onto point number 2:
However, I only recommend ergo products that I either use myself, I want to get or have reviewed myself, or that after considerable amounts of research I am happy to recommend and put my name to it.
However I am serious about fitness and health, ergonomic or otherwise, and serious about my readers health.
So when I say that you can get a decent office workout without spending any money, I hope that you believe me.
The absolute best form of exercise you can do in the office that will have the biggest impact on your overall health, is the also the easiest and freeist (is that a word?) thing to do:
Stand up from your desk, step away, turn around and walk around the office.
Yep, that’s it!
Do this magical, amazing thing every hour on the hour for at least 5 minutes and I promise you that you will start to feel the benefits after time.
If you can only do one thing, make it that one. Please, please, please believe me.
I do this all the time, and after about 3 weeks of starting this in my old job (will vary in time from person to person), I found myself with less back ache, more efficient breathing and better eyesight.
Better eyesight, I bet you didn’t think that would come from just getting away from your computer for a total of 40 minutes spread over an 8 hour day, did you?!
Well less time starting at a computer will help you to really refocus your wonderful, amazing and somewhat miraculous eyes, (they really deserve to be treated well, after all we are visual creatures).
Some other ways in which you can improve you health when working a desk job include:
I will do another post about ergonomic exercises later, but you shouldn’t be worried about starting some kind of exercise. Just find something you enjoy and crack on with that.
I enjoy beating a punching bag for about 30 minutes 3 times a week and that could be enough for me. I am a bit obsessed with working out though so I do other things as well, but the point is you don’t have o go overboard.
You may find that by exercising at home, you will have a spill over effect into the office environment.
Think about that for a minute.
If you work out at home, your core will become stronger meaning that you start to sit upright and in a proper, ergonomic position. You will also learn overtime, to control your breathing meaning that you can expand your lungs and really get your blood moving when you are sitting down.
OK, if you really have your heart set on bring something into the office, the only thing that I am comfortable with suggesting is an exercise ball.
By sitting on an exercise ball at work, you will get quite a lot of benefits, with the biggest one being that you can take it home at the end of the day and carry on at home!
If you have read my post about 5 Best Ergonomic Chairs Under $300, you will notice a wildcard at the end. It looks odd and you might feel people looking at you if you bought it into work, but it is actually quite a good idea.
The reason that I didn’t recommend it as the best is because I think most of you just want a proper seat that you feel comfortable sitting in.
So there you have it…an exercise ball.
That is all I am going to say about that for this section!
However, let me know in the comments if there is a piece of exercise equipment for the office cubicle that you have used and feel that it really helps.
If you want to go ahead and invest a small amount in some of the things I mentioned, then by all means go ahead, but I will not endorse it here on Ergonomic Health. Visit our homepage at ergonomichealthhq.com.

So you want to become a certified ergonomic assessment specialist (CEAS)? Well I hope this article will give you a few ideas about what they do and what is involved in the evaluation process.
Firstly I will just give a quick refresher about what ergonomics is all about.
The study of health involves designing and arranging the things that people use at the office so that they work at their most efficient and safe level.
This applied science essentially “fits a job to a person,” so that the person can work in an environment whereby they suffer the least amount of injury on the job, decreasing the amount of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) that occur in the workplace.
MSD’s can affect individuals’ muscles, nerves and tendons in their neck, back and upper extremities and occur most frequently in jobs spanning across many different injuries where heavy lifting, bending, pushing and pulling heavy objects, working in strange postures and repetitive tasks are involved.
MSD’s are the leading cause of workday injury and illness; the good news is that they are preventable through work with a certified ergonomic assessment specialist (CEAS).
Ergonomics assessment specialists frequently use an assessment checklists in their work and evaluation. These lists include lists of different appliances and technology involved in the workplace (such as computers and desk chairs) and specifications for making them very comfortable and usable.
For example, a desk should be large and deep enough to allow a worker to keep a computer monitor at least 20 inches away from the worker’s eyes.
A certified ergonomic assessment specialist (CEAS) helps employers provide a safe, comfortable and relaxing environment for their workers.
They assist employers in adhering to Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) standards, which requires that employers provide their employees a work environment free of known dangers.
It is important to become certified in ergonomics in order to work in this field, because it increases an individual’s “hireability”; employers will known that someone who is certified in ergonomics has the baseline knowledge to apply health principles at their workplace.
First, an individual must possess a master’s degree in health or other related human subjects field.
Second, they must have three years of professional experience in health-related stuff or a related professional field.
Third, they must take and obtain a passing score on the CPE (Ergonomics)/CHFP (Human Factors)/CUXP (User Experience) written test.
Finally, they must pay all test and other fees involved in the certification and evaluation process.
There are many benefits to One of the main benefits of becoming an ergonomic assessment specialist. Some of these include:
There are a few concerns that should be taken into account when deciding to become an ergonomic assessment specialist with a certification.
Being a certified ergonomics assessment specialist (CEAS) can be a very rewarding career! It feels good knowing that one is working in a career that can benefit so many people and is in high demand.
It is great “people work”! Because of the time and costs involved, however, it is wise to explore one’s options and the steps involved before heading down the road to certification.
